A gaggle of geese flying near water during a sunset

People are often curious about my work and like to ask me what I do as somatic sex educator and trauma practitioner. Instead of discussing my field - which is multifaceted and ever-changing- I prefer to talk to folx about why my clients come to see me.

While there are many ways I support people, here are some of the more common reasons people come to work with me in my private practice:

1) Consent and boundary practices to support them in their relational healing.

Ongoing consent practices in my sessions are some of my clients' most profound and impactful work we do together. It is the foundation of all my sessions, with the effects rippling out to the many relationships they have in their lives, including their relationship with themselves. In sessions, people have the time and space to slow down and practice what it feels like in their bodies to say yes, no, maybe, or I don't know right now. They have the space to explore what feelings and sensations emerge when they articulate their boundaries, desires, and the kind of touch they may want to receive.

2) Care and support for those who are struggling with trauma.

I am also trained in and practice the modalities of Tension and Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®), a self-care tool to support the body's natural shaking mechanism for stress relief, and NeuroAffective Touch (NAT), a touch modality that helps those who have experienced relational trauma as a child. Practices from these modalities are woven into most of my sessions, especially for folks who have experienced traumatic events that impact how they feel about their body, relationships, pleasure, and sexuality today. Touch is slow, purposeful, and practiced within containers of consent.

3) Support with pelvic pain.

Whether it's vaginismus, scar tissue, birth trauma, or other trauma to the pelvis, my sessions create a welcoming container for people to explore and better understand their body's physical and emotional pain using somatic education practices, consent, bodywork, and moving slowly.

4) Scar tissue remediation and massage sessions for pelvic and chest scars.

Scar tissue massage sessions can assist in the softening of scars and the places they adhere to, shift one's relationship to the pain they may be experiencing, offer gender-affirming touch, and support folx with the narratives around the circumstance to which the scar was acquired.

5)  Reconnect and deepen your relationship with your sexuality and pleasure through a sex-positive lens and practice.

With so many family, cultural, and community messages about what sex and pleasure should look or feel like, it can be hard to sift through the noise to find out what matters to you! In our sessions, we tap into what feels meaningful and important to you in your embodied experience of pleasure, sex, and relationships while letting go of what no longer serves you and your values.
